Bolton has a strong theatrical tradition with its own professional theatre at the Octagon, a thriving Little Theatre, numerous amateur dramatic groups and more than a dozen amateur operatic and musical societies, of which BCMCS is one of the largest and most respected.

The Society has three sections: a Musical Show section, a Choral section and a Youth Theatre.
